Destiny 3 Leak Points To "Balls Out" Finale To The Trilogy
Can Bungie finally turn this franchise around?
Ever since Bungie and Activision split late last year, with the former taking their Destiny IP with them, the future of the franchise has looked bright. It's been made clear that a lot of the more insidious monetisation systems implemented in the first and second games were the fault of the publisher, and there's cautious optimism that going forward and being fully autonomous, the developers will finally be able to give players the Destiny experience they've always hoped for.
They're still currently working on supporting the second game, but a sequel has always been inevitable. While it might still be a ways off yet as Bungie continue to find their feet, the direction of the third game and the features the studio plans to implement have allegedly been leaked. Regular, reliable leaker AnonTheNine has hinted that the new game will double down on RPG elements, and will deliver gameplay that will appeal to the "hardcore" players, more difficult and tactical than the second title's shooting.
Even more tantalising, the sequel is apparently going to mesh the PvP and PvE modes, no longer separating them but instead integrating each style of multiplayer into the regular maps. Although apparently comparisons to the way The Division handled PvPvE aren't encouraged, it sounds a little like the devs will be expanding on the Dark Zone found in that franchise, in order to maintain a little bit of a divide between the modes.
Whether these details turn out to be true is yet to be seen, but expect Bungie to start talking about Destiny 3 sooner rather than later.
