E3 2012: Dead Island Riptide Announced

Deep Silver have stated that an extended reveal will happen later this summer, so watch out for that some time in the near future.

Now that all of the main circus acts, I mean conferences are out of the way it looks like the floodgates have opened and developers are letting loose with the game announcements at E3. Deep Silver, publisher of the original Dead Island have announced that the team are hard at work and that the sequel, Dead Island Riptide is in full development. Of course this comes after previously being asked if a sequel was in development to which we were me with the reply "no it is not" proving once again that you can't trust anything anyone ever says in this industry. There are next to no details out for the title. We only know that developer Techland is working on the project and we've got the logo which can be seen above. The title is slated for release on the PC and consoles. This presumably means it's coming to the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. Dead Island received a lot of attention from the press due to that trailer that had the internet enthralled for weeks. In case you somehow missed it, it featured an undead attack on a family and the zombification of a young girl happening in rewind. It struck and emotional chord with the press and gamers alike. While the game didn't quite live up to the expectations that arose from said trailer, the original Dead Island was still a fun blood soaked romp through a zombie infested holiday resort with surprisingly good first person melee combat. Deep Silver have stated that an extended reveal will happen later this summer, so watch out for that some time in the near future.
