E3 2016: EA's Upcoming Star Wars Video Games - 7 Biggest Speculations
2. Could We Actually Be Getting Content Focusing On The Prequels?
You may think this is an unbelievable inference to draw from such a minute detail, but, personally, it felt significant to me. Throughout the trailer, and indeed since EA have commanded the Star Wars license in the medium, the prequel trilogy has barely been spoken of. In fact, it hasn't even been uttered once.
I get it, they were fairly awful, but there's no denying that they had some redeeming features. Take the over-choreographed duels for instance - they may have marked a massive departure from the slow and basic fencing of the Original Trilogy, but they did a great job of symbolising the Jedi at their peak. You know what else they had? A damn awesome orchestral accompaniment.
Again, during the teaser we were shown almost the entirety of it was accompanied by John Williams' original iconic soundtrack, but when they move to L.A. and take a look at Respawn, we're suddenly treated to the boastful and sombre tones of his work on Revenge of The Sith. It can't be coincidence, especially when the Star Wars canon in its current form doesn't really have the Jedi at its front and centre.
I know there are plenty of fans who have been feeling the absence of the prequels much harder than others, so if EA were to bring them back, even in a manner that outshone them much like The Clone Wars TV show did, then it could make for a fantastic title.
