E3 2018: Every High-Profile Video Game Confirmed So Far

1. The Last Of Us Part II

Last of the three "pillars" of Sony's conference, The Last of Us II has seldom been seen outside of an initial reveal cutscene doubling as a trailer. Thankfully, Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann confirmed at last year's PlayStation Experience that we'll finally be "seeing more" of the game at E3, and you have to imagine this time it'll be gameplay-related.

Failing that, we should at least get some details on the plot. We can see Ellie has become consumed with hunting down the Fireflies as penance for "lying" to her about not being able to manufacture a cure for the Cordycep virus - though this doubles as a way to break Joel down, if we assume Ellie knows the truth about the close of the last game.

There's also this mysterious older woman we saw in the last trailer who is almost definitely Ellie's mother, returning to tackle Joel in the parental role after decades of absence.

It goes without saying that The Last of Us is a huge deal to both Naughty Dog and the industry at large. The first game helped champion games as art, ushering in a renewed cinematic perspective on the medium overall. Here's hoping lightning can strike twice.
