E3 2019: 10 Announcements That Would Rock The Internet

7. Switch Online Gets All Past Generation Nintendo Games

What the hell are Nintendo doing with the Switch Online service?

Initially touted as something that would come with NES games retrofitted with online leaderboards - a setup that would "lend" you two games a month, only to replace them across the year - we now have genuinely ancient titles I guarantee a fraction of the populace actually play.

Why, when the Wii U's Virtual Console had everything from N64 to Game Boy Advance to DS and SNES, has this not carried across?

I can understand the monthly fee as it's just expected that online console functionality comes with a price tag, but the ability to turn this service into something irresistible is right there for the taking.

Please Nintendo, offer your legacy catalogue for a set monthly fee, or split it by generation and console. Whatever gets some of the best games of all time on your best console yet, just HAS to happen.
