E3 2019: 10 Biggest Surprises That Blew Us Away

9. A Lego/Forza Crossover

Would you look at that, it's another weird Microsoft crossover!

Rumoured before E3, the surprise of this announcement didn't come from the content shown, but rather its mere existence.

Sure, Forza Horizon is far more light-hearted than the more serious mainline entries, and a similar crossover expansion did happen in the previous game, when Playground partnered with Hot Wheels, but this just... doesn't make sense.

For a start, since when have Lego been known for their cars? The toys are nowhere near synonymous with racing or motorsport and seeing them alongside actual cars is incredibly jarring, making for a truly strange crossover that tops even the aforementioned Terminator/Gears one.

The Hot Wheels expansion featured the bright, orange tracks and the slightly too-ridiculous-to-be-real cars that the toys are famous for - and due to the car-centric nature of the brand it actually worked. But Lego, what excuse does it have?

Oh, wait, it's money, isn't it?
