E3 2019: 10 Rumoured Video Games You Need To Know About
1. Diablo 4
Blizzard need something huge to wash away the fiasco of Diablo Immortal’s ‘don’t you guys have phones’, but a new Diablo game would be just that. According to an interview with various Blizzard employees, the fourth game (being developed under the name Feris) could be just the tidal wave to do that.
The fact the franchise will be available on mobile irked some as a signal of selling out, but that’s mainly because of silence on the main series front. Plenty of games have inferior mobile ports and spinoffs, but it was the insulting ‘this should be enough for you’ attitude from Blizzard that really got under players’ skins.
Diablo III came out in 2014 and since then has received one major update and seen another scrapped, with no official announcement of where the main series goes next. For a franchise that boasts over 30 million players, it’s bafflingly poor support from Blizzard.
Games have overcome controversy before though and tend to be judged on their merit alone. Nobody talks about the puddles in Spider-Man anymore. If Diablo IV comes out swinging at E3 then enjoys a spectacular launch, memories of Immortal will, ironically, be forgotten.
