EA Sports UFC: 10 Fighters We Need In DLC

3. Matt Hughes

Matt Hughes is undeniably a legend of the sport and is bound to appear at some point as one of the game's offering of legends. As Hughes is still on good terms with Dana White and the UFC €“ currently occupying the role of Vice President of Athlete Development and Government Relations €“ it seems highly likely that we will eventually see the country boy as a playable fighter. With a huge and impressive record of 45-9 in his MMA career, Hughes is considered by many to be one of the greatest welterweights (and mixed martial artists) of all time.

Playing as Hughes would certainly be a lot of fun. As someone who is famous for his big slams, he would fit right into EA's game which already has the mechanics in place for big takedowns. We€™d love to pick someone up, walk them across the Octagon and slam them right on their back before following up with some hard punches and elbows on the ground. Hughes would have to be a good all-rounder as his striking wins almost equal his submission wins so he€™d be the perfect pick against a striker or a grappler. Plus, everyone would love to see how Hughes would fare against the newer breed of welterweights like Rory MacDonald and Johnny Hendricks.
