Every Call Of Duty Campaign Ranked Worst To Best
5. Modern Warfare (2019)
2019's soft reboot of Modern Warfare doesn't quite capture the magic of what came before, but that's not to say it failed. In fact, it's an undeniable triumph in its own right, a tightly plotted and visceral tale that pulls no punches digging into the messy lows of modern day conflicts.
Right from the opening terrorist attack, Modern Warfare sets the bar high and maintains its tension throughout. Many of the narrative beats are familiar, but given the improved graphics and seamless gameplay, it more than makes up for such minor faults.
Like all the best CoD games, Modern Warfare is at its core a morality tale, and allows you become completely enveloped in the drama as the lines between good and evil are blurred.
There are a couple of dull, too brief missions, and Roman Barkov makes for a painfully bland villain, but between the gameplay, eye-watering graphics and almost cinematic scope, Modern Warfare is about as good as the franchise has been in recent years.
