Every Major Video Game Franchise Returning In 2019

Okay so... why did kart racers go away?

Save for Mario Kart and Sonic Racing, there are VERY few devs or publishers devoting time to sequelising or reviving a genre that at one point, was literally a part of every major franchise.

In CTR Nitro-Fueled's case, its time comes after Crash and Spyro got their respective trilogies brought into the modern day, opening up a marketing window to capitalise on nostalgia, and bring one of the best kart racers of them all into the modern day.

Brilliantly, developer Beenox aren't just remastering the original CTR either, adding a number of levels from the non-Naughty Dog "Nitro" games to play alongside. Plus, the jewel in the crown? Online play.

If Beenox can recreate the lightning-fast physics engine of the original Naughty Dog game, plus a stable connection with a healthy pool of players, Crash Team Racing can get right back to going toe-to-toe with Mario Kart, just like back in the 90s.
