Fallout: 10 Reasons New Vegas Is The Best One
3. A Tight-Knit World
The game world is very tangible in New Vegas. It isn't just a sprawling map for you to trek over. It's a functioning world. You are forced to use roads and common routes of transport because the wasteland is so unruly, creating a very real world. You can't just bounce over mountains. You have to commute along the same old caravan tracks as everyone else.
And the game world isn't massive. It is just as big as it needs to be. The precedent with open-world games is that bigger is better. However, as we all know, it's what you do with it that matters. Every bit of New Vegas' world is crammed with stuff. Characters, places, caves, towns. You can't stagger for long without finding something else.
It's very confined and very well made, with the world justifying its size. It takes you a while to get from one place to another, but that is handled expertly with winding roads and deep layers of content to experience as you go. You can still get distracted, but those distractions are designed and purposeful.
