Fallout 5 Wishlist: 8 Rumours We Want To Come True
Raise your hand if you need more New Vegas in your life.
Even though Fallout 4 was released back in 2015, there's still no official word on the future of the franchise. Bethesda aren't a studio known for announcing anything before it's ready, and with all of Fallout 4's post-release content wrapped up, fans are preparing themselves for the series to go dark for a long, long time.
But just because we don't know anything officially doesn't mean we don't know anything about the new game at all, and the rumours I've dissected in a previous article seem to indicate a radical shift in direction going into the next entry in the acclaimed RPG franchise.
Based on what we know, it's clear that Bethesda are moving full steam ahead on new features such as VR, potentially building a new engine to run whatever Fallout 5 looks like, and are preparing to be even more focused on player-created mods in the future.
But that's just the start.
Of course not all rumours are true, and where the franchise does go from here is anybody's guess, but based on the drips and drabs of information I can put together about the next game, there are some amazing possibilities as to what Fallout 5 could emerge as.
8. A Spin-Off, Rather Than A True Sequel
While we know Obsidian isn't involved in creating the New Vegas 2 game all fans are craving, it's looking more and more likely that the next release in the Fallout series is going to be a spin-off, rather than a true sequel.
Developers at Bethesda have their hands full with development duties for the foreseeable future, with a mysterious unannounced original title and The Elder Scrolls VI on their slate before they even get around to thinking about Fallout 5. Assuming they're going to stick to a conservative schedule of four years between releases, then that means we might not get a Bethesda-helmed Fallout for potentially another ten years.
Obviously the publisher isn't going to let one of their hottest properties languish for that long though, and so it's more likely that they'll get another studio in to work on a spin-off in the same vein as New Vegas in the meantime.
