Fallout Season 1 Review - 10 Ups & 2 Downs
5. Up: The Committed Ensemble Cast
It's almost impossible to list every actor who appears in Fallout, both in major and minor roles, but every one delivers a performance befitting the show's compelling story.
The big standouts on the supporting actor front are Kyle MacLachlan, who plays Lucy's Vault leader father Hank with the care of a parent and the mystery of a complex equation, Leslie Uggams (of Roots and Deadpool fame), who portrays secretive Vault figurehead Betty as a viper waiting to strike, and Frances Turner as Cooper's inscrutable wife Barb.
They're joined, often only briefly, by a gaggle of comedic stars working to their strengths, including a wonderfully awkward Fred Armisen, a cocky Matt Berry (still very British), and oddball veteran Chris Parnell. And let's not forget Johnny Pemberton, whose pathetic turn as Maximus's frenemy Thaddeus is a true scene-stealer.
The best one-off performer, though, has to be Lost alum Michael Emerson, whose vital turn as a fugitive scientist is filled with such complex emotional turmoil you'll wish he stuck around longer. Which, I suppose, technically he does. I'll leave that one with you...
