reportedly being targeted by Real Madrid, Chelsea, AC Milan and Napoli. The skilful forward topped the goalscoring charts in the Under-17 Copa Rio with Flamengo, a tournament closely monitored by Europe's big guns. 2012 saw the 17-year-old's name in headlines across Brazil after he scored 72 goals in 53 matches, but Douglas insists his next plan of action excludes capitalising on interest from Europe:
This year was great for me. I want to finish it on a high note, he said. I won the Under-17 state championship and was top scorer with 46 goals. Now my focus is on Under-20 level. I will move up with respect for my team-mates, but I need to seek my place also. The Brasileirão Under-20 and the Copa São Paulo are watched closely by the first-team coaches.
Previously likened to Ronaldinho, the youngster is certainly on the right track to replicate the success of the smiling Brazilian.
