Many had speculated that a quiet season by the Argentines standards would see him being rated marginally lower on FIFA 15 but the leaked ratings suggested that Lionel Messi is still a 94-rated player. The World Cup card of Argentinas star player rose up to a 98 rating (based on what performance were not quite sure) but the standard FIFA 14 Messi is a 94. The leaked rating has Messi as being largely the same but his shooting has been raised from 89 to 91 while his passing has been improved from 84 to 87. Overall these changes seem justified as the Barcelona forward is an underrated playmaker and it was ridiculous that his overall shooting wasnt already in the 90s. On balance the 27-year-old has done enough to justify retaining his lofty rating. A quiet season by his standards still resulted in a whopping 28 league goals which saw Barcelona fend off fierce rivals Real Madrid in La Liga. He may not have played well enough to get Argentina past Germany in the World Cup final but he carried the team throughout the rest of the tournament, earning him the coveted Golden Ball award (albeit controversially).
