2. Central Midfielders

EA Sports

Mesut Özil: 88

Santi Cazorla: 83

Aaron Ramsay: 82

Granit Xhaka: 82

Jack Wilshere: 81

Francis Coquelin: 79

Mohamed Elneny: 77

Gedion Zelalem: 65

Of the 8 central midfielders at Arsenal's disposal, 3 are defensive players, 4 are general midfielders and only Mesut Özil can play naturally as CAM. He does so with some drops to his stats this year, which is hardly surprising given his poor campaign in season 2016-2017. The most noticeable decrease is to his pace, which goes from 72 to 71.

In the middle of the park, Santi Cazorla remains the best pick, and it's a toss-up between Aaron Ramsay and Granit Xhaka who joins him. If you enjoy playing 5 in midfield, then maybe someone like Francis Coquelin or Mohamed Elneny would sneak in at CDM, but there's likely much more value playing Ramsay there and going with Cazorla and Xhaka directly in front of the Welshman.

Cazorla has gone down 3 points (86 to 83), Ramsay 2 (84 to 82) and Xhaka the same (84 to 82). Even forgotten man Jack Wilshere, who spent last season out on loan at Bournemouth, has suffered a dip from 82 to 81 overall. Meanwhile, American 20-year old Gedion Zelalem is still just a hot prospect showing 'great potential' and won't see much game time.

It's becoming a trend in Arsenal's squad to replace, and you may wish to do that with Özil and Cazorla. If nothing else, get another attacking midfielder in.
