FIFA 21: 10 Players Who Will Be Horribly Underrated
9. Merih Demiral (Juventus)
After joining Juventus at the start of the 2019/20 season, Demiral found himself rooted to the bench for much of the first half of the season. However, following the poor form of de Ligt and cruciate ligament damage restricting Chiellini's game time, Demiral was given the chance to shine.
And shine he did.
Although he made only a handful of appearances he almost seemed undroppable, complimenting Bonucci very well in their short-lived partnership. The Bianconeri won every game with Demiral playing.
An ill-fated game against rivals Roma saw Demiral meet the same fate as his teammate and rupture his cruciate ligament.
The 22-year-old Turk has all the time in the world to recover from his injury and return to the very top of his game, but unfortunately in the meantime, EA look set to punish him due to their horrible track record of downgrading injured players.
Demiral actually received an upgrade in FIFA 20, climbing to a 77 overall. When comparing his stats to 7 other high rated centre backs to have featured in less than 10 league matches, Demiral's stats (including tackles, duels and passes per 90) are either extremely similar or he eclipses his defensive counterparts.
The kicker? Even after his winter upgrade, Demiral is currently the lowest-rated of any of them on H2H, including an 83 rated Joel Matip.
