Football Manager 2014: 11 Free Transfers You Need To Consider Immediately

10. William Gallas (France)

William Gallas 1Position: Centre-Back Age: 35 Former Club: Tottenham Hotspur Having left Tottenham during AVB's massive building programme in the summer to make way for Romanian prospect Vlad Chiriches, and no doubt to ease some of the contract strain, Gallas remains a talent worthy of a place in mid to low level Premier League squads. He's one who can only really be picked up in the Beta, since he's now joined Perth Glory, but he should still be considered up until the full game is released. His stats are impressive for a player of 35 years old, particularly in terms of his presence, and leadership qualities. He still scores solid 15s and above in key defensive attributes like tackling, heading, marking, aggression, bravery, composure, determination, leadership and balance, which makes him a better option than most. The compromise of course comes in Gallas' lack of pace and acceleration, which have both dropped to 11, but his mental attributes are strong enough to cover the short-comings, especially with a quicker, younger partner. He'll only ever be a short-term option however, so you have to consider whether his plus £40k wages are worth the pay-off.
