8. Clear Out The Old Guard

Your first step after the standard 'check the bank balance' phase should always be to sift through the squad, work out where you're thin, and where you've got an excess of stars. Arsenal have a hoard of average central midfielders, with three in particular well past their primes. Mikael Arteta, Tomas Rosicky, and Mathieu Flamini. They earn £70k, £55k, and £56k per week respectively, but with a few clicks you can free up that mega amount of wages and rake in a few million on the side. Flamini has plenty of suitors around the £1.5m mark, or demand a bit extra if you're in no rush to sell. Arteta is in a similar situation, while Rosicky is sitting in your U21 squad with a serious injury until the January window. The trio are all out on contract in 2016, so cash in while you can.
