9. AZ Alkmaar

Holland has always been a great league for Football Manager veterans: the Eredivisie itself is a good playing experience thanks to the quality of some of the teams in there and there's always been a rich vein of wonderkids and affordable stars in the country.

The likes of Ajax and PSV always tend to be right up there (and it helps that they have great youth systems), but the real challenge in that league is breaking through with another team. The compartively unfancied AZ Alkmaar have done so on a couple of occasions (and aren't doing so badly right now), but it will take something special for them to recapture the magic of their 2008/09 league victory.

They've got a good youth system and good prospects like Teun Koopmeiners and Jeremy Helmer, but there's very little money, so it's about nurturing that talent and knowing when to sell.
