Club: Arsenal

Nationality: Belgian

Price: £38 million

Signing Albert Sambi Lokonga in the first transfer window may prove a smidge expensive - a fee of £38 million is what Arsenal will likely quote you for the young Belgian - but he's someone who absolutely should be on your radar.

As a defensive-minded midfielder, the former Anderlecht player - who only signed for Arsenal in the summer of 2021, hence the hefty initial price - is somewhat of a diamond in the rough. To look at, his stats don't immediately justify his price tag, but the 21-year-old can go on and become one of the best ball-winning midfielders on FM22 if you put the work in with him.

Lokonga is hard working and won't ever cause any problems within your squad and to the group's morale, but some of his defensive stats aren't quite as solid as other DM options featured on this list. If you can get Lokonga under a good defensive coaching setup, though, his numbers will soon start to flourish - especially if you're giving him regular game time in a more defence-minded midfield role.

In Albert Sambi Lokonga, you have a potentially world class ball-winning player on your hands. It's all about how you can help Lokonga reach that potential, though.
