God of War II Creative Director Hired For Tomb Raider

Cory Barlog will be joining Crystal Dynamics, the developers for the new Tomb Raider game.

We haven't heard much about the new Tomb Raider game since it was shown at E3 last year but today came the news that one of the main people behind God of War II has signed on to work on the project. Cory Barlog, the creative director for God of War II will be joining Crystal Dynamics the developers for the new Tomb Raider game. Crystal Dynamics statement on the hiring:
€œCrystal has pulled together some of the best teams in the industry to deliver against upcoming projects and future IP, Cory's heritage in building industry-defining action adventure titles, together with our focus on delivering quality character-driven blockbuster entertainment, makes Cory a tremendously exciting addition to the team."
In addition to working on the Tomb Raider reboot, Barlog will also be working on an unannounced title from Crystal Dynamics. The Tomb Raider reboot is one of the most anticipated games of 2012 but still has no official release date scheduled. I am a little worried the game may get pushed into 2013 because the release schedule is filling up for this fall and I don't know if Crystal Dynamics will want to go head to head with some of the games that will be released later this year. Just look at October, BioShock Infinite and Assassins Creed III are scheduled to come out that month not to mention November will have another Call of Duty game. We will probably know more after E3 this year where we will hopefully get a release date for the game.
