Grand Theft Auto 6: 8 Insane Rumours We Hope Are True
2. A '70s Setting
Get those bell-bottoms and disco balls at the ready, because Grand Theft Auto could be heading for the '70s.
Given that the series has explored crime in the '60, '80s, '90s, 2000s and present day, is it any wonder there have been so many rumours GTA 6 could take place in one of pop culture's most neglected decades?
Period backdrops are one of Rockstar's specialities, from the aesthetic world of LA Noire to Red Dead Redemption's untamed Wild West, and taking its bestselling series back to the '70s would give the studio the opportunity to great creative in a time period it's never ventured into before.
The '80s-set Vice City was one of the most memorable instalments from a visual standpoint, rich in Scarface-inspired themes and iconic Miami imagery, and the series is actually overdue a return trip to this city.
GTA VI could end up being a prequel of sorts, taking place in Vice City one decade before the events of the 2002 game. If nothing else, it would have a look and feel of its own.
