GTA 5 PS5: 10 Improvements & Features Rockstar MUST Add
6. Destruction
We've all been there. You're in a high speed police chase through the middle of Los Santos, and in a blind panic you chuck your last grenade out of the back of your car in order to decimate the oncoming vehicles.
One of the pursuers goes careening into a nearby building and you expect the wall to crumble from the flaming car, but instead there's a little black mark like someone tried to use a lump of coal for graffiti.
While providing better graphics is important, the one thing new video game consoles should be focussing on is making sure more and more action can be happening on our screens at any one time. Games like The Order: 1886 showed where too much of an emphasis on graphics and not enough on gameplay can lead to disastrous results.
If Rockstar are going to continue to provide us with more and more bombastic weapons to use in their game, then they need to start making them do a bit more. Making car explosions more spectacular and having buildings take actual damage when a wayward tank cannon shot rams into them would help make the experience much more immersive, giving the impression that your actions have an impact on the world.
I'm not saying Grand Theft Auto needs to become the next Just Cause, but taking some cues from Avalanche's destruction mechanics wouldn't hurt.
