GTA 6 Is NOT What You Expect

Rockstar is making some big changes...

In a wide-ranging report into life at Rockstar Games 18 months after the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, journalist Jason Schreier briefly revealed a tidbit about the next Grand Theft Auto.

The report comes from anonymous employees associated with the company, and has revealed that GTA 6 is still extremely early in development, with the management team still devising how the game's production is going to be structured.

While the author confirmed that the game is still a "ways off" yet though, he did confirm that it's Rockstar's next game and the team are about to enter full production.

However, what form the game is going to take may come as a surprise. In an attempt to curb the crunch culture which caused huge controversy around RDR2's release, one potential plan is that GTA 6 will only be a "moderately sized" (by the publisher's standards, anyway) affair at launch, and that content will be added to the game as time goes on, to avoid the crunch needed to pack all that content in for opening weekend.

Consequently, GTA 6 could very well initially be a smaller affair than RDR 2 or even GTA V when it first comes out, with the promise of more content being released over time.

It's an approach that has worked wonders for GTA Online, but a rollout like this for the single-player story is unheard of, and will surely be a contentious decision after fans have already waited seven years for a new instalment, with a good few more ahead of them before the game hits shelves.

What do you think about the prospect of a "moderately sized" GTA 6? Let us know down in the comments!
