GTA V: 10 Iconic Moments That Defined The Series

1. A Speaking Protagonist

Tommyvercetti The moment when Tommy Vercetti first opened his mouth in 2002's Vice City and Ray Liotta's voice tumbled out was actually a gigantic moment for the Grand Theft Auto franchise. Previously, gamers had followed around the mute Claude in predecessor GTA III, while the games before that saw players control a faceless blob. The inclusion for the first ever time then of a living, breathing, talking central character was a big deal, and marked serious progression where the game's protagonists are concerned. Because of this development, more notable voice actors joined the cast, such as Samuel L Jackson, while more emphasis was later placed on the playable character theme when Rockstar introduced multiple protagonists for the first time in GTA V. These were the 10 Iconic Moments that we believe defined the Grand Theft Auto series, and we can't wait to find out what lies in store on next generation consoles.
