GTA VI London: 10 Things You Must Be Able To Do
Who wouldn't want to drive a double-decker bus filled with screaming passengers?
It's been a while since the GTA series hung out in the Big Smoke, with its bobbies, red telephone boxes and old-fashioned black cabs with cockney drivers wearing flat caps (though these days its more hipsters, Wi-Fi hotspots and Uber cabs). Admittedly, casting the satirical spotlight on America is the easier option for Rockstar. The extremities of American life are familiar to people all over the world thanks to the country's global dominance in business, film and television. Modern-day London, on the other hand, is far less definable to much of the world than say, Victorian London (as Ubisoft's latest Assassin's Creed outing attests). But London is one of the great world cities - a veritable melting pot of different cultures, hipsters, plucky criminal organisations and sleazy politicians. It's filled with landmarks that are recognised the world over, as well as trendy areas filled with cat cafes, nu-jazz clubs, and cereal cafes that someone needs to hit with the satirical stick immediately. Yes, London would make an awesome playground for the next GTA game, and there are plenty of people who'd like to see it realised. If the British-based Rockstar North are so astute in satirising America, then they'd surely do a great job of casting a critical, comedic eye on Britain's beastly, beautiful capital.
