HBO's The Last Of Us: 10 Things We Need To See
5. Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson's roles
The idea of a series based on The Last of Us that did not feature legendary voicing duo Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson (as Joel and Ellie, respectively) in some capacity could never have sat well with fans. Thankfully, the powers that be at HBO have decided that the show could not proceed without the iconic pair appearing. Baker and Johnson have been announced to be starring on the show in "undisclosed roles".
This is a thrilling piece of news for die-hard fans of The Last of Us. The duo's vocal performances are the greatest voiceovers in gaming history, a set of roles that quite literally transcended the bounds of console-based entertainment. The idea of a show devoid of their participation would have been an insult to the legacy of the iconic original and the central protagonists that countless gamers laughed, cried and smashed the ever-loving sh*t out of clickers with.
The other tantalizing prospect posed by the pair's casting is the fact that the roles they will be playing remain undisclosed. Which storied character's boots will they step into? Will it be a brand new character instead? Or will this simply be an affectionate homage to the original game, no more than a tongue-in-cheek cameo appearance? Only one thing is for sure: the fanbase is absolutely champing at the bit to find out.
