James Bond's Greatest Hits Coming With 007 Legends

Activision announce a celebratory compilation video game coming to tie-in with Bond's 50th anniversary.

To celebrate Bond turning 50, Activision have announced that they are releasing a greatest hits style video game, which will launch gamers back through time to relive a selection of the infamous spy's most iconic and intense undercover missions from the Bond film franchise with 007 Legends. The game will be released on XBox 360 and PS3 and will feature levels from a raft of classic Bond titles. 007 Legends will knit together the levels with an original, overarching storyline taking in six Bond movies, including the upcoming Skyfall and will equip players with state-of-the-art spy gadgets, an arsenal of weapons, including Bond€™s signature Walther PPK, and typically sleek vehicles. David Oxford, Executive Vice President at Activision Publishing, Inc welcomed the news of the release with the following:
€œTo honour 50 years of the world€™s top secret agent, 007 Legends offers a collection of his most famed moments in the smartest and most treacherous Bond game yet. Creating a video game storyline that ties together six popular, yet very different, Bond movie narratives can be challenging, but together with EON Productions, our developer Eurocom, has pulled it off to create a homage that we think will be a unique and highly entertaining Bond video game.€
In terms of format, there isn't any word yet, but you'd probably be foolish to bet on anything other than what we've seen before, with the emphasis on FPS play, and Daniel Craig likely to play the part of Bond across every classic movie section, given the affiliation with the Skyfall release. The press release also features a little more information on the game modes we can expect:
In addition to the 007 Legends€™ main story, the game will feature the return of fan-favourite single-player Mi6 Ops Missions, which debuted in GoldenEye 007: Reloaded and challenges players to complete extra missions ranging from all-out action to stealth and gadget-based gameplay and compete for the highest online leader board scores. For the first time ever, players will be able to participate as one of Bond€™s cohorts or villainous foes, reliving the missions through their eyes, as well as 007€™s. The robust James Bond multiplayer experience includes local four-player split-screen game modes and online competitive gameplay with new maps, weapons and characters derived from Bond€™s 50 year legacy. With more gadgets, deeper stealth and spy investigation gameplay, gamers will have every opportunity to truly feel like the world€™s favourite spy.
Quite how this will work out after the mixed form of the original Goldeneye, Goldeneye Wii, Bloodstone and Goldeneye: Reloaded remains to be seen, but we can only hope it's more like the former or even the latter, and not the middle two disappointments. So, since Activision are yet to clarify, which missions from the Bond universe would you like to see immortalised in game form for 007 Legends? Let us know below...
