Kingdom Hearts 4: 12 Disney & Pixar Worlds We Want To See

5. Treasure Planet

Kingdom Hearts 3
Buena Vista Pictures

Of all the films on this list, Treasure Planet - along with the next entry - is admittedly a long shot inclusion. Though it was nominated for an Academy Award, the film was a famously major flop when it released in 2002, garnering decent reviews but doing dismally at the box office.

For that reason, it's hard to imagine Disney chomping at the bit to see the film included in Kingdom Hearts when their more popular properties could be utilized, but Treasure Planet's cult status over the last 17 years since its release has given rise to a number of fans who'd love to see it included anyway. And if you're able to drop the cynicism about the reality of it being a long shot, it's actually pretty easy to see why those fans have a point.

Purely from a visual standpoint, Treasure Planet would be a pretty cool world to visit in the series in all its steampunky, sci-fi/fantasy glory, where Sora and the gang could solar surf with Jim and uncover the mystery behind Nathaniel Flint.

Though you should take them with a grain of salt, rumors have pointed to the notion that a world based on the film may have once been planned for Dream Drop Distance, but even if the film hasn't been on the minds of those behind the series, it sure would make for one heck of an adventure if given the chance.
