Kingdom Hearts 4: 12 Disney & Pixar Worlds We Want To See

4. Atlantis: The Lost Empire

Before Treasure Planet, there was 2001's Atlantis: The Lost Empire, the other aforementioned long shot on this list. Unlike Treasure Planet, however, Atlantis wasn't a total box office flop, but it also wasn't a runaway hit or critical darling, either. Disney's plans for expanding the franchise to television and theme parks were quickly shut down when the world didn't embrace the film, though its modest success did result in a direct-to-video sequel.

It, too, has a cult audience that still considers it a bright little gem in Disney's long history, and for good reason. Unlike most of Disney's animated fare that had come before it, Atlantis did away with song and dance numbers and overly colorful characters for a more straight-forward narrative coated in a more adult tone, something many held against it at the time but has maintained lasting appeal with its fans for simply being something unique in Disney's animated oeuvre.

It's got an undeniable visual flare to it that would be great to see translated over to Kingdom Hearts, and that's not even including the fact that a world built around it would have a clear story goal: Helping Milo discover and save Atlantis from villains like Commander Rourke and Helga, all with the help of a powerful teammate in Kida.
