6. The Camera Will Divide Players

"As I play, I have no control over the camera, which reels and pans according to the developer’s direction. I seem to have spent the last few years playing games with camera control, so this took me a bit of getting used to. On some occasions, the camera is placed weirdly, making platform moves frustrating. But on the whole, it seems to work." - Polygon
"While I found it mildly annoying to have a dash move rather than camera control on the right stick, the auto-camera at least frames the action fairly well. Moments in which you fall to your death because you couldn't see where you were meant to jump are rare; fights where your view is blocked by an awkward bit of scenery are non-existent. It holds up in the decent local co-op too." - Eurogamer

For all of the quality-of-life improvements Knack 2 makes, the camera is still going to be a sticking point for some players, specifically that the player has no control over it, something that's decidedly less-fashionable in games these days.

While many stated that the camera system mostly worked fine after a brief adjustment period, the consensus seems to be that camera control would still be preferable, as it does occasionally catch the player off-guard.

Something to consider for Knack 3, then?
