This presumption is based not only on the narration in the trailer, but more so by the appearance of the actor Scott Porter as Wade's best friend. Porter played the football player that got injured in the pilot and was disabled throughout the series. With that we might expect the pathos and blandness that were the basis of this family-friendly drama.

But it doesn't have to be that way. In "Any Given Sunday" a third-string quarterback enters the game. At first everyone is skeptical of him, he's defiant, the fame goes to his head, but he eventually succeeds and endears the team to himself. While it might be tempting to make our player a role-model from the start, let's remember that he's not fully formed yet, so it's OK for him to make some questionable decisions.

Let's just hope that pathos doesn't outweigh the fun.
