Madden 20: 8 Tips To Play Like A Boss

5. Know When To Chew The Clock

This is something even some real-life NFL coaches could use a crash course in.

Knowing when to go for the jugular (and that potentially game-winning TD) and when to eat up time on the clock is key. Nobody is saying players should pass up a touchdown if it's achievable, but basically play smart as the time ticks down. For example, why rush if you're in the red zone and there's one minute left in the half? You definitely don't want opposition teams getting that ball back.

CPU ball clubs are great at using timeouts to their advantage when they're trying to score, so it's best to remove that power from their hands. Don't try passing plays too much when there's not a lot of time left on the clock and you're in front on the scoreboard either. They can easily result in picks, and could end in a breakaway touchdown.

Hurrying is pretty pointless. Quarters in Madden are fairly short anyway, and it's better to spin out the clock with running plays rather than attempt that deep pass. On the flip side, pay attention to how well the AI uses timeouts and copy that strategy.
