It feels like a lifetime, but after all the delays, Crystal Dynamics are finally on track to release the long-awaited Marvel's Avengers game.

The developers have just hosted the inaugural "War Table" event, a live stream offering a deep dive into the gameplay, looks and mechanics of the upcoming title. The half hour presentation was jam packed with information, including the game’s main villain, what happens after A-Day as well as a glimpse into what happened to Captain America.

The livestream featured a huge amount of gameplay, which is more than can be said for most studios' presentations these days. Despite some minor quality hiccups on the stream, viewers were shown an extended section of gameplay from later in the game. Making note that fans are desperate to see footage outside of A-Day, they demonstrated a single player mission that saw Thor fighting alongside the gang on their helicarrier.

There was a short section explaining the co-op and War Zone features, although they were a little short on the details. To top the event off, Crystal Dynamics showed off the vast customisation available, including different outfits and abilities (and the dreaded storefront).

They say your story is only as good as it's villain, so there was a lot riding on this reveal. However, most had assumed that it would be a familiar face from the MCU. Yet when they revealed the man behind the plan to "cure" every inhuman, a sense of confusion fell across the fanbase.

AIM have been put in charge of San Fransisco in order to rebuild and restore order to the embattled city after the A-Day disaster. They've even taken residence in the Avengers Tower, replacing the infamous A logo with their own. In the game, AIM is led by founding member and super-genius, George Tarleton.

Tarleton, much like Tony Stark, believes science is the answer to a safer world. During his experimentation, his human subjects die and he is forced to experiment on himself. In doing so, he managed to increase his intelligence and mental capabilities, but as a side effect, his entire head swelled in order to contain everything.

Kamala believes he is the man behind the effort to discredit the Avengers, while he builds a robot army he can use to "protect" Earth. Couple that with experimentation on Inhumans in order to find a "cure" and we have our big headed big bad.
