Mass Effect 4: 10 Characters Who Must Return

1. Garrus Vakarian

Hands down, Garrus' reintroduction as 'Archangel' in part two is one of the best "Is it going to be? Is it?! YES!"-moments in any game (and yes, that's a category) as not only do you come across him as he's about to be taken out by a collection of warring gangs, but there's a great amount of preamble in how you hear about this illusive mercenary picking off different members, going only by the name 'Archangel'. When you finally happen upon his location and its Garrus, it's a moment for the franchise that's rarely topped - that perfect re-appropriation of every 'old friends reunite in a warzone'-action trope you know and love, filtered through Mass Effect's sci-fi filter. Going forward Garrus is one of the slot-machine inclusions that can emerge from the Normandy at the very end of 3, leaving his role in a sequel up for grabs too. Of course this randomly generated ending style means that only certain people saw him emerge at all, but like Tali at least his death isn't for certain like ol' dead-eyed Thane. Which characters do you think are totally wrapped up, and which would you bring back in either prequel or sequel form? Let us know in the comments!
