2. No Returning Characters

A choice quote from Bioware execs at Comicon was their focus on "new places, new characters and new people to fall in love with", something that alludes to (obviously) a focus away from what's gone before. However to take that to its next logical conclusion you can assume that's them definitively saying all the old squadmates won't return, and neither with love interests, which is a shame considering so much of the series' appeal was routed in hanging out with these specific people. Still, Bioware managed to go their own way against established Star Wars characters in the first Knights of the Old Republic, and being that Mass Effect's universe is just as rich with lore and history, there's a million stories waiting to be told.
