Metal Gear Solid: Revolver Ocelot Explained
Just what is Ocelot's goal...?
Revolver, Adam, Shalashaska, Liquid Ocelot... all many names and aliases for one man. But not just any man, no. A man who has played more sides and had more hidden agendas in a series reliant on intrigue and mystery. A man who, born of secrecy into a world of espionage, has had much to gain and many an ulterior motive throughout the years.
Villains come and go in the Metal Gear Solid mythos, and whilst each one more eccentric than the next, they're all closed stories. Vamp was an enigma across two games, but he got his comeuppance eventually. Vulcan Raven, Fortune, Fatman, Gray Fox and many others were all memorable, but they either had their fifteen minutes or eventual defeat by the end of their respective games.
But Ocelot, though, always comes away unscathed (well, sort of). From prequels, retcons and whatever else goes through Kojima's mind, the man with the killer moustache has been behind the scenes in many an event in the MGS timeline.
From Presidents to Patriots, nukes and nanomachines, the man who made his first appearance in 1998 as the torturous gunslinger has just as much backstory as the Big Boss himself that some of it may surprise you.
So consider this a look into the string-puller himself, as we go back and forth across games and timelines to try and get a grasp on the man behind the many names. Be warned though: This is a Metal Gear retrospective. It's not the smoothest of narratives to get your brain around.
