Metroid Prime 4: 9 Other Switch FPS You Should Play

How to overcome those Metroid Prime 4 withdrawal symptoms.

Nintendo/Ground Shatter

There’s no denying that Nintendo’s scrapping of Metroid Prime 4 felt like a last-minute surprise of titanic proportions; rarely has mankind/Nintendo fans been faced with such injustice.

We may never know what truly happened behind the scenes, but kudos to Nintendo for taking a huge risk and postponing, rather than bringing out what they felt was an inferior product. No sense in unleashing another Fallout 76 on the world.

However, we’ve waited this long already, we can wait a little longer. Plus, there is always a solution for the misery of video game absence: More video games.

Obviously nothing could replace another triple A Nintendo exclusive (and what could end up being one of the best games of this generation), but there are some potential sublimates.

Plenty of other great FPS games are just waiting to be played on your Switch, all with the potential to quickly and easily scratch that Metroid itch. Play some of these and you won’t have to miss out on exploring huge levels and solving puzzles whilst shooting all manner of nasties and feeling terribly isolated.

Metroid Prime 4 Switch Shooters
Overkill

Setting itself apart from the crowd by taking place in a world of Heat-inspired bank heists, this game avoids the more typical Rainbow Six-esque military squad shooter tropes. You'll need to plan and stay alert whilst watching out for hostages, cops and security as you try to steal that sweet green.

When it works, it works really well, especially in local co-op, and much like Michael Mann's classic film, when things descend into chaos, it can become really intense, in a good way.

Lots of customisation options, as well as the choice of whether to go in guns blazing or take a sneakier approach gives this game a lot more versatility than you might think.

It’s flawed, yes. Playing it alone is less than ideal, but if you’ve got a couple of friends to play with locally, this is a shooter the more mainstream contenders can’t compete with.
