Might Transformers: Fall of Cybertron Actually Be Good?!

The latest gameplay footage, featuring a rampaging Grimlock, suggest that it decidedly will be.

Given what Michael Bay has done in the name of the Transformers, you'd be forgiven for simply casting aside all future franchise ventures as failures in advance. But, hold your horses there for one minute, because Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, the sequel currently being developed by High Moon Studios for release later this year might just change your mind. Especially when you see the latest video that has just reared its head on the net... http://youtu.be/xbto6gJGLG8 In case your Transformer knowledge is a little rusty, and you don't have the luxury of speakers to hear the commentary from creative director Matt Tieger, that behemoth dino-bot featured in the clip above is Grimlock - a personal favourite from the Transformers universe. Now, even though his ability to change from robot into T-Rex was fundamentally somewhat at odds with the the Autobots' attempts to hide in plain sight on Earth, the chance to play as the legendary character outweighs any logical concerns I might have over his appearance. The footage comes thanks to Kotaku, who were sent the clip exclusively by High Moon Studios, and who offered the following added information on the upcoming original sequel:
You'll be able to play as Grimlock in parts of the game's single-player campaign, which oscillates between featuring Autobots and Decepticons in the playable roles. The game is set after the critically-acclaimed Transformers: War for Cybertron which told a new story set in the distant past of the Transformers' home planet.
Playing as a giant fire-breathing, near invincible, transforming dinosaur - now that's something I can get on board with. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is set for release at the tail end of August. Pre-order it here for XBox 360 or PS3.
