NBA 2K17 Blacktop: 4 Father-Son Duos That Can Dominate
B-ball talent runs in the blood.
You probably know how it feels to play pick-up basketball on the same team with your dad. It's very probable that most games ended in a quarrel, with your father cursing you out for "not feeding him the rock" and you arguing that he should not shoot if his shot repertoire is limited to airballs and bricks. No? Well then, consider yourself lucky...
Or a liar.
Now imagine that your father is a professional athlete, who wants you to follow in his footsteps. This raises the level of competitiveness to absurd heights. Especially when your rival is also a former pro, and his son is also in possession of considerable talent.
NBA 2K17's Blacktop allows players to square-off in games of one-on-one, two-on-two, etc., all the way up to a regular five-on-five game.
This list looks at the best father-son duos that should provide you with a legitimate shot at not only winning with other father-son tandems, but teams not connected by family ties as well.
4. Doc And Austin Rivers
Doc Rivers PG / Rating: 79 85-86 Atlanta Hawks
Austin Rivers PG / Rating: 74 Los Angeles Clippers
The two point guards are currently employed by the Clippers, as Doc is Austin's coach. If you can image the everyday torment that this young man suffers as his father shouts at him in front of strangers in practice and during games, as well as the father's shame for his son's bad plays, you know that they are worthy of a spot on this list.
That, and they trump Larry Nance and Larry Jr., as well as Arvydas Sabonis and his son Domantas, because of their perimeter defense and speed.
It must be added that their speed is not that exceptional, which is a knock at the tandems that didn't make the list rather than praise for the duo. Also, Doc's playmaking skills (A) allow for a few good dribbles during a game. Both aren't exceptional shooters, and their releases vary significantly, as Doc's is quick, while Austin's is long, but both can score.
