Centers: Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O'Neal
Forwards: James Worthy, Elgin Baylor, Jamaal Wilkes, A.C. Green, Pau Gasol
Guards: Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Jerry West, Gail Goodrich, Byron Scott
Starting lineup: O'Neal, Abdul-Jabbar, Worthy, Bryant, Johnson
The Lakers all-time roster is fairly easy to pick, since all ten of their retired numbers were carried by legendary players. Unlike some teams that honor players who either spent many years on a team or had just one magical season there, to be appreciated by the Lakers an athlete needs to be really special.
The ten legends are therefore joined by A.C. Green, Byron Scott and Pau Gasol. George Mikan might be the most questionable omission from the roster, yet with such great centers he had to be left off the list and replaced with more versatile players like Green or Gasol, who can play all three frontcourt positions.
