NBA 2K24: 10 Things We Already Know
2. Finally, Crossplay
Crossplay between rival consoles has been a community-requested feature for years and now, NBA 2K are delivering the goods.
Confirming the existence of crossplay for NBA 2K24, the ability is confirmed to be a current-generation exclusive, meaning you'll be unable to play as a PlayStation 5 user against a player operating via PlayStation 4; the same rule of thumb applies to the Xbox Series S/X and the Xbox One. This, as with the increasing list of current-gen exclusives, was to be expected. Maintaining playability on the eighth-generation is no longer a necessity for NBA 2K but when there's a buck to be made, NBA 2K will pounce.
The good news is that players will be able to talk in party chat when playing a PlayStation 5 vs. Xbox Series S/X game. Additionally, crossplay is confirmed to be an all-mode ability, so if you're tired of draining three-pointers as the Kobe Bryant-led Los Angeles Lakers, you can hop into MyTEAM to dismantle a rival player's card-collecting squad.
Crossplay, in short, is a much-welcomed upgrade for the series. As a whole, NBA 2K has operated a very sheltered life when discovering new ways to play, but this is an honest game-changer. Has it been worth the wait?
Hopefully.
