This is a more general point, but Nintendo simply can't afford to rush their next console. The GameCube was severely underrated but lacked the popularity of the PS2, the Wii was revolutionary but ultimately one big gimmick that got old fairly quickly, the Wii U has some decent games but it's simply lightyears behind other consoles. The consoles have steadily declined in quality across the years, and if the NX can't hold its own against the current next-gen consoles then Nintendo will remain in the wilderness. The new machine simply must come with a sprawling online community, big-hitter launch titles, and most importantly, a serious level of quality hardware. Can Nintendo do all of that, plus build up enormous hype, this year? I'd far rather see announcements this year and a considered, thorough development process leading up to a 2017 launch. Nintendo. I love you, but I'm seeing other people at the moment, give me a reason to come back... What do you think of Nintendo launching the NX in the middle of Sony and Microsoft gearing up for their most impressive years so far? Let us know in the comments!
