Obsidian Hit with Major Layoffs That Will Effect South Park RPG

The layoffs were big enough to effect the team working on the South Park RPG as well as cause a future next generation project to be cancelled.

Obsidian the makers of the newly announced South Park RPG have been hit with some major layoffs today. The layoffs were big enough to effect the team working on the South Park RPG as well as cause a future next generation project to be cancelled. Here are some of the things being said on twitter:

"Another project canceled, this time for a future next-gen project and the layoffs impacted that team, plus the existing South Park team, Approximately 20-30 people from all disciplines, including one person who started yesterday, as well as one who started last week."
How this will affect the South Park RPG is still unclear at this time but obviously there are some major issues over at Obsidian if you are hiring a person one day and firing him the next. I do feel bad for the people being fired but I actually really don't like Obsidian as they are famous for releasing mediocre to poor games. Games like Knights of the Old Republic 2, Fallout New Vegas, or Alpha Protocol were all mediocre games that were filled with glitches beyond belief. I do enjoy some of their stories but the games generally have poor design or are too broken to play. Although I have to say that the South Park game looks amazing but whether or not the gameplay works is another thing entirely.
