PES 2021: 6 Early Rumours You Need To Know

1. Microsoft Acquiring Konami IP's

Without a doubt, the biggest and longest shot of a rumour, is the one involving Microsoft's speculated purchase of Konami's full catalogue of games. Forums are littered with conjectures, but proper details are hard to come by. What we do know, is how much PES would benefit from such a deal.

In footballing terms, PES can be compared to Atalanta. Very short on financial resources, but incredibly wise with their investments. Microsoft would act as the proverbial Middle Eastern billionaire, looking to take the team to the top. Having an exclusive football title on the One X would make sense. If PES could beat FIFA convincingly enough on the pitch, it would act as a huge draw to the console.

Cross platform compatability would still be possible with PC players, so PES would have that market advantage as well. Factor in how well the development team has done over the years with limited resources, add a blank chequebook, and you have a formidable prospect on your hands.

No more limitations for the developers, no licencing issues and an already well established relationship with many top clubs... The football gaming landscape would change immensely if this move was to come to fruition.

This one remains truest to its title of being just a rumour though. With that being said, stranger things have happened in the gaming and footballing world.
