PES 2021: 6 Ups & 3 Downs
2. Euro 2020... And Beyond?
Another license coup that was added to last year’s game was that of the UEFA Euro 2020 competition. All 55 European national teams in the competition, fully licensed with up to date squads and all the official competition graphics, animations and video packages to boot.
Now alright, granted, the real-life European tournament ended up being cancelled this year as a result of the global pandemic, but Konami have managed to retain the license for PES 2021. And yes, some fans might be asking themselves ‘what’s the point in keeping the license of a competition that never happened’, but the answer to that is simple.
With licenses for the UEFA Euro competition and all of the national teams still in place, when the real-life UEFA Euro 2021 tournament inevitably does come around next year, you can bet that eFootball PES 2021 will be adding a DLC to update the whole thing ready for the tournament to officially begin.
In the meantime, you’re getting the added bonus of playing ‘the tournament that could have been’, and what better way to indulge in a bit of much-needed escapism, really?
