PlayStation Experience 2017: 10 Major Surprises We Want To See
8. PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale 2 Announced
This would certainly be a surprise. There's definitely a market for a sequel to PlayStation All-Stars, especially when considering the wealth of new characters that could be included.
The less than stellar sales of the original All-Stars mean a sequel is probably unlikely, but that doesn't make it impossible. The PlayStation brand has recently introduced a whole range of brand new characters like Aloy and Ellie, as well as strengthening their connection to third parties like Activision which could make inclusion of characters like Crash Bandicoot much more likely.
A sequel to PlayStation All-Stars would really only need to stick to the formula of the original game, whilst adding brand new characters and stages. The much bigger player-base of the PlayStation 4 should hopefully mean that the game would have a longer life cycle, too.
At the very least, Sony could release a HD remaster of the first All-Stars to gauge interest in the series and hopefully find proof that there's still an audience for it. What better way to celebrate PSX with a game all about PlayStation?
