1. The Champion
Another series mainstay is the Pokémon Champion, the trainer you’ll ultimately have to topple to be the very best, like no one ever was.
This time around, it’s Leon, older brother of your rival, and it appears he plays a major role in the story. He’s shown in scenes with Professor Magnolia, suggesting he’s either there at the start of your journey or will pop up at several points throughout the narrative.
Considering his brother will be walking the same basic path that you do, it makes sense for Leon to appear every now and then.
Keeping up with the Pokémon battles replacing football as Britain/Galar’s most popular sport, Leon is treated like a hero everywhere he goes. There appears to be a big focus on world building and enriching the characters around your journey this time around.
Hopefully this means a similarly enjoyable experience to Sun & Moon, but with less handholding.
There’s a lot of emphasis put on the fact Leon is currently unbeaten, although obviously you’re going to have something to say about that. Hopefully he’ll be comparable to Cynthia’s strength and will feel unbeaten when you face him too.
