Pokémon Sword & Shield: 10 New Details You Need To Know
9. New Pokémon
Every new generation brings with it new Pokémon, and Galar is no different. It still remains to be seen just how many new ones we’ll get, but the ones we’ve seen for now have made an instant impact on the fanbase.
Last year, the Alola variants of Dugtrio and Exeggutor were roundly mocked before fans grew to love them, but these designs don’t need any time to settle in; they’re pretty popular already.
The only issue is many hoped regional variants would return, but you’d imagine if that were the case, at least one of them would’ve been showcased in the Direct.
Still though, there’s definite potential with what we’ve seen so far. Sheep Pokémon Wooloo (Normal) looks to be a cuddly early game Pokémon, while we saw the flower Gossifleur evolve into Eldergloss (Grass).
Snapping turtle Drednaw (Water/Rock) has more of a combative design, while raven Pokémon Corviknight (Flying/Steel) has a gothic, evil tone.
Pokémon’s website claims Corviknight is the stronger Flyer in the game, so it probably isn’t the Route 1 bird, which is a shame because as a mix between a raven and medieval knight, it screams Britain.
Sheep and dandelions fit the British theme too, although snapping turtles is a reach.
